This episode is about embodying the change we seek. Are we ready to receive our dreams or are we asking for things we haven’t demonstrated the capacity to hold? Are you feeling like leaving your old way of living behind and starting out in a new direction? Maybe something you've never seen personally before up close?

I feel like a lot of us are experiencing this right now. I am, again. It can be scary to dream if that's the story you have told yourself, but how do we know if we're even ready to receive all the things we dream of?

Can we really ever be fully ready? These are the questions rolling around in my mind so I want to share some things I'm learning along the way!

We are in a loneliness epidemic. Connections are surface level or non-existent, and in the solitude we often disregard the power of being in community with nature as well.
I'm grateful for @highvibebyonose and @we_bewalkin for the communities they've created here in Washington, DC and expanding. I am even more grateful for the people they are, healers by training & nature, who saw a need along their own healing journey and how they've transferred their skills into this work for our collective good.

Esthanette is also the founder of Etta’s Embrace specializing in menstrual equity, community health, and birth preparation. Etta's Embrace provides evidence-based information and resources through written work, workshops, webinars, and individual support.

As a mentor, she empowers aspiring creators to achieve success.

In this special two-part episode of The Freed Black Girl, I take you on a journey into my family’s history. Beginning over 12 years ago I set out to uncover the roots of my maternal lineage. My quest began with my grandmother, Willa Mae—a woman of mystery to me, strength, and love, who passed away before I was born. Although I knew little about her, I soon discovered that she was not only a healer as a nurse but also a medicine and conjure woman with Taino-Jamaican heritage born in Knoxville, Tennessee.
These revelations have brought new understanding to my own life, showing me how the past shapes the present. Join me as I explore these profound connections and reflect on the importance of knowing our family stories.

My family also unearthed the story of my great-grandfather, King David Snodgrass in Hollywood, Alabama. In 1939, as part of the Works Progress Administration's Federal Writer's Project during the Great Depression, he shared our family’s history with warmth, pride, and vivid imagery; preserving our legacy through the rich tradition of storytelling. These revelations have brought new understanding to my own life, showing me how the past shapes the present.
